Volunteer Positions

These roles are designed to accommodate flexible volunteer hours. Functional roles typically require 3 to 4 hours per week, while event-based roles usually demand concentrated effort around the event. To support OPEN Silicon Valley volunteers, we have hired dedicated staff who can assist volunteers in completing their action items. 2Head of Annual Gala Event Nov 2024 Team

Join Open Silicon Valley as a dedicated volunteer in the role of Head of the Annual Gala Event. This role involves coordinating with vendors, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure a seamless event. Your creative touch will be crucial in designing memorable experiences for attendees.

Responsibilities:

  Plan and execute the Annual Gala Event, overseeing logistics and coordination.

  Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the event and attract sponsors.

  Recruit and manage a team of volunteers for various event-related tasks.

  Seek opportunities to enhance the gala's impact on Open Silicon Valley's mission.

Note: This role will only require a couple of hours a month from now and gradually increase with an expected intense October typically requiring over 30 hours.

3Head of Annual Awards April 2024 Team

Lead the recognition and celebration of outstanding achievements within the Silicon Valley community as the Head of Annual Awards. Play a crucial role in acknowledging the contributions of individuals and organizations that align with Open Silicon Valley's mission.

Responsibilities:

  Design and execute the annual awards program, recognizing excellence in various categories.

  Engage with stakeholders to identify deserving award recipients.

  Coordinate award ceremonies and related events.

  Promote the importance of recognition within the community.

Note: This role will tyoically require a couple hours a week and will end in April after the award gala.

4Head of Core Operation Team

Volunteer with Open Silicon Valley as the Head of Core Operation Teams, where your leadership skills will play a pivotal role in overseeing the essential functions that keep our non-profit organization running smoothly. Your dedication to this volunteer role will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of various operational teams, contributing significantly to the overall success of our mission.

Responsibilities:

  Collaborate with team leads to develop and implement efficient operational procedures.

  Monitor and assess the performance of core operation teams, identifying areas for improvement.

  Work closely with the executive team to align operational strategies with the nonprofit's mission.

  Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment for volunteers within the core operation teams.

5Head of Annual Forum Team

Are you passionate about knowledge exchange and community dialogue? Open Silicon Valley is seeking a volunteer Head for the Annual Forum. In this role, you will lead the planning and execution of an annual event that facilitates insightful discussions and promotes the organization's goals.

Responsibilities:

  Plan and coordinate the Annual Forum, bringing together thought leaders and experts.

  Collaborate with speakers and panelists to create a compelling and informative program.

  Utilize various platforms to promote the Annual Forum and attract participants.

  Evaluate and gather feedback to continuously improve the quality of the forum.

6Head of Member Research and Analytics Team

Open Silicon Valley is seeking a passionate volunteer to serve as the Head of Member Research and Analytics. In this role, you will contribute to the organization's growth by leveraging data and insights to inform strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:

  Conduct research to understand member needs, preferences, and engagement patterns.

  Utilize analytics tools to extract valuable insights from membership data.

  Collaborate with other teams to enhance member experience based on research findings.

  Present data-driven recommendations to improve overall organizational effectiveness.

7Head of Award Team

Open Silicon Valley is in search of a dedicated volunteer to lead the Award Team. As the Head, you will oversee the process of recognizing outstanding contributions within the community and celebrating the achievements of individuals and organizations.

Responsibilities:

  Manage the end-to-end process of award nominations, evaluations, and selections.

  Coordinate award ceremonies or recognition events in collaboration with other teams.

  Engage with the community to encourage nominations and participation in award nominations.

  Uphold transparency and fairness in the selection and acknowledgment of awardees.

Note: This role is designed to accommodate flexible volunteer hours, typically ranging from 3 to 4 hours per week.

8Head of Social Media and Admin Team

As the Head of Social Media and Administration, enhance our online presence, manage social media platforms, and handle administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  Oversee all aspects of our social media presence across multiple platforms.

  Develop and implement content strategies for engagement and growth.

  Coordinate administrative tasks and report on social media performance.

  Analyze trends to adapt and improve our social media strategies, ensuring maximum engagement and reach.

9Head of Volunteer Management Team

The Head of Volunteer Management will develop a comprehensive volunteer program, focusing on recruitment, training, and team building.

Responsibilities:

  Design and implement volunteer programs aligning with our values.

  Lead the recruitment and training of volunteers.

  Foster a positive culture and coordinate volunteers for events.

  Implement systems for tracking and evaluating volunteer performance and satisfaction, ensuring a high-quality volunteer experience.

Note:  This role is designed to accommodate flexible volunteer hours, typically ranging from 3 to 4 hours per week.

10Head of Finance
As the Head of Sponsorship Finance, you'll play a crucial role in our CFO team, focusing on optimizing sponsorship revenue. Your core duties include overseeing financial reporting, ensuring timely revenue recognition, and crafting budget strategies. You'll collaborate closely with finance and sponsorship teams to analyze performance, generate key reports, and guide strategic decision-making, ensuring our financial health and growth.

Responsibilities:

  Oversee the invoicing and timely collection of sponsorship receivables.

   Conduct monthly updates for sponsorship accounts and collaborate with marketing to enhance sponsorship promotion.

● Establish and maintain precise financial records for sponsorship agreements.

  Implement process enhancements in sponsorship accounting/reporting and maintain clear financial procedures and documentation.

Qualification:

● Preferred degree in Finance or related field with at least 2 years in accounting or finance, with a preference for sponsorship accounting.

11Head of Accounting
As the Accounting Head, you will collaborate with our accounting firm overseeing all accounting functions of our organization. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and robust financial planning. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to the non-profit sector, valuing transparency and accountability.

Responsibilities:

  Manage daily accounting operations: accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

   Ensure accuracy and compliance in financial records and reporting.

● Manage tax filings, regulatory compliance, and grant funding requirements.

  Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Qualification:

● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with proficiency in accounting software and knowledge of non-profit accounting regulations.

12Associate Team Lead Women's Forum
The Women’s Forum seeks an Associate Team Lead to support the leadership of the Ignite conference. This leadership role demands an individual with expertise in project management, team leadership, and strategic marketing. The candidate should have a strong commitment to gender equity and the ability to craft impactful experiences, as well as good communication skills.

Responsibilities:

   Strategically guide the forum, forging connections with thought leaders and influencers to serve as speakers and panelists.

   Manage projects and panels end-to-end, leading a team towards excellence.

● Manage tax filings, regulatory compliance, and grant funding requirements.

   Engage with sponsors, aligning their goals with the forum’s theme

● Develop and execute marketing plans to amplify the forum's reach.

● Handle event logistics, from venue to visual and audio setups.

13Marketing Team Women's Forum
Seeking a Marketing Head for the OPEN Women’s Forum to spearhead our strategic marketing, enhance visibility, and amplify impact. A strategist with a strong grounding in marketing, brand management, and team collaboration will thrive in this role. The ideal candidate will channel their marketing acumen into advancing our organizational mission.

Responsibilities:

   Devise marketing strategies in line with the Women's Forum's goals, emphasizing digital and traditional channels to expand reach.

   Maintain the Forum's brand consistency across all communications, leveraging partnerships for unified campaigns.

● Lead digital marketing efforts, including social media and email campaigns, to boost engagement and support.

   Manage budgets with a focus on cost-effectiveness, supporting the Forum's goals through innovative and strategic campaigns.
