Dr. Michael Olpin is a professor of health promotion at Weber State University and is director of the WSU Stress Relief Center. He earned his Ph.D. in Health Education from SIU, and his Master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Health Promotion and Psychology from BYU.

Mike has presented many classes, seminars, and workshops on stress management and wellness at the national, regional, and community level. Dr. Olpin’s teaching includes many areas of health and wellness but his primary focus remains on stress management, mind/body health, peak performance, mental and emotional wellness, and wellness coaching. This session focuses on exploring all the stakeholders relevant for your problem statement. It will introduce you to the tools and techniques in doing the research to understand the context and needs of the user. Some of the techniques include ethnographic user research, empathy map, persona, current journey and user’s perspectives to help build empathy with the user. Empathy helps in seeing the world from the perspective of the user.

This session focuses on how you should go about exploring a solution that solves the problem for the user in an iterative and agile manner. One of the most common mistakes that entrepreneurs do is fix their minds on the original idea they had. They cling to their original idea and overlook many other ways of solving that problem. They also become attached to specific use of technologies and lose sight of the user’s context. This session will help you with brainstorming techniques to explore ideas using a wider angle. You will also learn some prototyping techniques and approaches to get feedback from the user and creating an experience vision. You’ll also be introduced to the power of storytelling.

Zabreen is currently an investor at Lead Edge Capital, a venture capital and growth equity firm based in New York. She focuses on software and internet investments and hopes to fund more female founders. Prior to Lead Edge, Zabreen worked at Facebook, Andreessen Horowitz, and Disney. Zabreen discovered her love for technology while at Stanford University where she studied Science, Technology & Society and Creative Writing. Zabreen graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Honors and Distinction and received the Robert McGinn Award as Valedictorian in her department. She has been a longtime proponent of female empowerment, starting in her hometown of Lahore, Pakistan where she worked to promote women’s education. She is also one of the developers of FLAME an open-source agent-based framework being used world-wide for multi-disciplinary research. Before joining the lab, Kiran worked at various Universities of Sheffield, Leeds, and University College London, with collaborations with European industries such as SAP, ATOS, and BT. She was selected as the Royal Society’s Scientists in Westminster in 2015 and is the recipient of the 2017 U.S. DOE Early Career Award. She is a member of ACM and a Senior IEEE member.

Sohaib Zahid is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Railz. Sohaib is a serial entrepreneur with a decade of successful experience in building teams, products and companies. Mujeeb Ijaz, is the founder & CEO of ONE.ai., the hottest battery technology startup based out of Michigan. ONE.ai has demonstrated a proof-of-concept battery that powered Tesla Model S, 752 miles without recharging.

Mujeeb is a battery systems engineer with over 30 years of experience in the development of electric vehicles and battery systems technologies. Faysal Sohail is the Managing Director at Presidio Partners

Faysal Sohail became a venture investor in 2002 after seventeen years of experience as an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. He has led several investments in technology and energy space, including robotics, information security, energy, semiconductors and software.

Golfers of all levels are welcome.
